We began our time in Turkey by exploring the incredible city of Istanbul. A combination of holidays was taking place while we were there. The Muslim feast of sacrifice, Eid al-Adha, meant that many people were off work and traveling home to be with family. As a result, the streets and attractions were especially crowded, and places like the Grand Bazaar were closed. I know we only scratched the surface of Istanbul and its rich history, so I look forward to returning someday. We had a wonderful guide for much of our visit.
